NIGERIAN STATE LEGISLATURE LEADERS VISIT UNDP REPRESENTATIVE

On June 27th, 2024, the leadership of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria paid a courtesy visit to Ms. Elsie Attafuah, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Nigeria.

The delegation, led by the Conference Chairman, discussed areas of collaboration between the state legislatures and the UNDP to advance developmental projects and initiatives across Nigeria. Key topics included sustainable development, legislative oversight, and strengthening the partnership between state governments and the UNDP.

Ms. Attafuah welcomed the visit, noting the UNDP’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s state governments in their efforts to improve the lives of citizens. She expressed optimism about the potential to expand joint programs that address poverty, health, education, and environmental protection.

Both sides agreed to follow up on specific proposals and work together to enhance the UNDP’s development assistance to Nigeria’s state-level authorities. The meeting concluded with a pledge to maintain open communication and explore innovative ways to elevate state-level governance and service delivery.
